Every Sunday afternoon, Foam offers free walk-in workshops inspired by Viviane Sassen's current exhibition 

In this workshop, you will use your own photos and blend them with captivating images from magazines to create a unique collage. Afterwards, you can bring your artwork to life using various painting techniques. This workshop is suitable to all ages and skill levels.

 exhibition, Koos Breukel presents a series of photography workshops where participants can work alongside the artist. Set in a specially designed photo studio within the exhibition, participants can choose to shoot in the studio or, weather permitting, in the garden. Each workshop is inspired by the style of a photographer who has played a significant role in Breukel’s artistic journey.

 During this event, managing editor Katy Hundertmark will give a short presentation about Foam Magazine. Afterwards, you will be guided through the preparation of a simple Okinawan meal with mostly vegan dishes by magazine contributor Chieri Higa, while participating in a 

conversation around food heritage, belonging, authenticity and food as a vehicle for political conversation. 

At the end of the event, we will enjoy the prepared meal together.

Do you want to photograph the streets of Amsterdam and improve your creativity and photography skills? Foam's weekly Street Photography Course starts on 13 May. In four weeks, you will work towards a personal series of street photos.

Every week, we focus on a different aspect of street photography. You will get a specific assignment as a starting point and will obtain lots of tips along the way. Since you learn the most when you practice, we will spend most time dedicated to taking photos and working on your series. In the end, all results will be discussed within the group to learn to look critically and to find your own style.

Workshop: Photo Commissioning Practices

Are you between 17 and 26 years old and do you have a passion for photography and storytelling? Sign up for the Foam Forward programme led by photographer and film maker Fidelio 

 and learn to develop your own artistic vision. During this programme, you will be guided in creating your own visual language by producing a small magazine. The zine focuses on telling a story and developing your own photographic vision.

The Foam Forward programme consists of a series of 6 workshops. The workshop will start on Thursday 2 June. After that, it will take place weekly on Thursdays from 19:00 to 21:00 hrs. 

Included in the workshop is a visit to creative space MAQAM and Galerie Mercatorplein, free access to Foam and the production costs of your magazine.

Would you like to learn more about how to capture intimacy in photography? Sign up for the free photography workshop in MAQAM, given by photographer Elena Annastasia.

The workshop will take place on the occasion of the exhibition 

 by Cemre Yeşil in which intimacy is an important theme. While surrounded by inspiration, participants learn to look at intimacy from different perspectives and are encouraged to exchange ideas.

This Christmas holiday, Foam is organising a photography workshop for children between 8 and 12 years of age. The workshop will start with a participatory tour through the exhibition of Lorenzo Vitturi -&nbsp;<a href="/museum/programme/lorenzo-vitturi">Materia Impura</a>. In this exhibition, the artist plays with reality and fiction. He mixes different disciplines like sculpture, photography and painting. His photo&rsquo;s focus on places like Lagos, London, Venice and selected areas in Peru. Vitturi uses selected colours and shapes in his sculptures who have a relation with the areas he photographs.
Inspired by the photographs in the exhibition and the information gained during the tour, you will experiment with colours and shapes in a playful way. You will create an assembly from selected materials and self-made photos. At the end of the workshop everyone will present their best photo on a large screen and will go home with a printed version. We ask you to bring an object in your favorite color and a piece of fruit or vegetable that you find interesting.

The workshop starts with a participatory tour through the exhibition of Brassa&iuml;, during which you will get inspired by the theme and work ethic of the photographer. Inspired by this tour, you will then start working on the assignment of the workshop. Within the themes of Brassa&iuml;, you will photograph in black and white and discover the still life, people in caf&eacute;s and street scenes. During the workshop you will be guided by a professional museum teacher.
The workshop will finish with showing and discussing each other&rsquo;s results. You can choose your best results and have a few options on printing them. All results will be sent to you digitally and of course you can take your analogue work with you.

This Spring holiday, Foam is organising a photography workshop for children between 8 and 12 years of age. The workshop will start with a participatory tour through the exhibition of <a href="/museum/programme/adorned-the-fashionable-show">Adorned: The Fashionable Show</a>. In this exhibition, visual artists present fashion-related photography projects. These artists use fashion and style to show who they are or to make a statement.
Inspired by the photographs in the exhibition and the information gained during the tour, you will dive into the role of a visual artist. You will create your own magazine cover by combining photographs and text. What will the trends of 2020 be, according to you?
During the workshop you have the opportunity to work independently and receive tips from the museum educator on how to improve your photos. At the end of the workshop everyone will present their best photograph on a large screen and will go home with a printed version.

Inspire yourself with Brassa&iuml;'s street photography and learn how to capture Amsterdam during dusk.

Brassa&iuml; (1899- 1984) created countless iconic images of 1930s Parisian life. He was famous for capturing the grittier aspects of the city, but also documented high society, including the ballet, opera, and intellectuals - among them his friends and contemporaries like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dal&iacute; and Henri Matisse.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP The workshop starts with a participatory tour through the exhibition of Brassa&iuml;, during which you will get inspired by the theme and work ethic of the photographer. Inspired by this tour, you will then start working on the assignment of the workshop.
