Voetbalcultuur in West photography workshop with Pim Ras and Fidelio Faustino

Are you between 17 and 27 years old and interested in photography and sports? Join the workshop series Voetbalcultuur in West by sports photographer Pim Ras and photographer Fidelio Faustino. In this workshop, you will work towards a personal photography series in 8 sessions, which will be exhibited in MAQAM afterwards.

With this photography workshop series, organised in collaboration with Foam and MAQAM, you will learn how to turn your creative ideas into powerful images. Alongside this we aim to provide you with new skills, learn about different photography techniques and develop a different perspective on your surroundings.

Under the guidance of sports photographer Pim Ras and photographer Fidelio Faustino, you will work on your own photo series in 8 sessions. You'll also have the opportunity to meet other people who share the same interest. After the workshop, your photos will be presented in MAQAM for a month as part of the West Side Stories exhibition.

We will:

take to the streets and capture stories with the camera

have personal coaching in creating your own photo series

learn the process of working towards an exhibition

For this workshop, it's not necessary to have experience or own a camera. However, it is important to show passion and dedication to the topic.

About Pim Ras and Fidelio Faustino

Pim Ras currently has a solo exhibition at MAQAM titled West Side Stories. The exhibition pays tribute to the footballers who capture the essence of the Kolenkit neighbourhood and highlights stories that begin on local playgrounds and grow to international prominence.

Fidelio Faustino is a filmmaker, art director and photographer based in Amsterdam. In his creative practice, he explores what black visual language means to him and the public. He creates a new vernacular: black narratives as universal. His work uses culture to create new expressions of identity.
