Koos Breukel

Meet the Artist

Foam presents Meet the Artist, an exhibition that offers a special glimpse into the life and work of one of the Netherlands’ most renowned portrait photographers, Koos Breukel. The exhibition showcases an overview of his career, focusing on the people who have significantly influenced his development as both a photographer and a person.

In a live studio with Koos Breukel himself, visitors can engage in conversation or even have their portrait taken by the artist. By placing the interaction between visitor and artist at its core, the exhibition breaks traditional roles within the museum experience.

About the exhibition

The portraits of Breukel showcase his ability to capture the incidental and everyday, with a keen eye for vulnerability and authenticity. The exhibition celebrates the artists and other influential figures who have played pivotal roles in shaping his career.

Koos Breukel will be present for four days a week for the entire exhibition period. This offers visitors a rare opportunity to meet the artist in person, engage in conversation, and even have their portrait taken in a special photo studio that is part of the exhibition.
