Opening Foam 3h: ShuShu Sieberns Young Human
Join us for the official opening of Young Human by ShuShu Sieberns. The exhibition will be opened by director Karin van Gilst and curator Claartje van Dijk at Foam 3h.
After their opening words, ShuShu Sieberns will do a live performance at 18.10 hrs. During the performance, the artist will read poetry in three languages, light a candle and walk with the audience into Foam's garden. The performance references the film An empty bed, a dimmed window and serves as a mourning ritual and an ode.
About the exhibition
Artist ShuShu Sieberns tries to create a bridge between two different worlds: one where queer identity and traditional Russian family values can coexist alongside each other. The exhibition Young Human serves as a sensitive exploration of the internal conflict that the artist experiences in the relationship between her deeply religious grandmother and her partner.
The exhibition is made possible by DLA Piper, the Van Bijlevelt Foundation, Mondriaan Fund, Kleurgamma and Oschatz Visuelle Medien.
