Deconstructing glamour

With our Museumnacht programme, developed in collaboration with Framer Framed, we seek to deconstruct glamour by dissecting its elements, exploring its meaning, and critiquing the fashion systems that perpetuate specific ideals. From a queer perspective, glamour becomes a powerful tool for self-expression and resistance against mainstream norms. Queer glamour celebrates individuality, diversity, and the breaking of heteronormative boundaries, offering a more inclusive and expansive understanding of what glamour can be. The fashion industry plays a significant role in shaping cultural norms and ideals, often perpetuating specific standards of beauty and glamour that can be exclusionary and unrealistic.

By deconstructing these standards and highlighting the consequences of these ideals on self-esteem and societal values, we hope to foster a dialogue for a more equitable and realistic understanding of the notion of beauty.

Activities

Beauty Basics by Timothy Paul

Driven by the mantra that beauty has no boundaries, Timothy Paul has made it his mission to make every kind of person look and feel beautiful. His driving force is the belief that beauty should be crafted and accessible to everyone. With this in mind, he has always strived to make everyone beautiful, carefully carving out spaces for people who traditionally have been left out of the beauty conversation.

The workshop is a 30-minute demo done on a live model followed by a Q&A segment.
