Join us on Friday 6 October for a conversation with renowned artist Carlijn Jacobs and Alessia Glaviano of PhotoVogue. They will dive into Jacobs' work, creative processes and the elements that make the work so intriguing.
About the programme
After Carlijn Jacobs' spectacular rise since her last exhibition at Foam, she now returns with the enchanting solo exhibition Sleeping Beauty. Together with Alessia Glaviano, Head of PhotoVogue and Director of the PhotoVogue Festival, the evening offers a glimpse into the mind behind the world-renowned works. We'll take a closer look into Jacobs' passion for escapism and delve into what it takes to create an entirely new fantasy world.
The talk will place from 18:30 - 19:30 hrs. You're welcome at Foam from 18:00 onwards.
About the exhibition
Carlijn Jacobs works with today's leading brands and celebrities but manages to keep her images quirky and alienating. Sleeping Beauty is an invitation to the subconscious, where anything is possible. The exhibition features a combination of commissioned work and autonomous work that will premiere at Foam. The space in the museum will be enriched with designs by Sabine Marcelis.
About Alessia Glaviano
Alessia Glaviano is a prominent figure in the global photography landscape. Currently serving as the Head of Global PhotoVogue and Director of the PhotoVogue Festival, she has made significant contributions to the field of international photographic criticism. She's renowned for launching PhotoVogue in 2011, an innovative platform for photographers worldwide, now with over 300,000 participants. Alessia's mission is to promote talent and influence visual literacy for a more just and inclusive world. Her open calls for submissions have catapulted emerging photographers to stardom. Alessia's leadership at PhotoVogue has set industry standards for diversity and perspectives. Beyond this role, she has curated exhibitions, organized special events, and driven digital content projects. Alessia's 7 editions of the PhotoVogue Festival were critically acclaimed. She's a respected lecturer, speaker, and a jury member for prestigious photography contests.
