Echoes of Jenin: A dinner experience with Culture Grub and Sakir Khader
Join us in Foam's garden on Saturday, 10 May for a community dinner by Culture Grub on the occasion of Yawm al-Firak. We'll begin the evening with an exclusive screening with Sakir Khader. The dinner will be accompanied by captivating performances from Palestinian-Dutch spoken word artist and rapper Stryder, as well as spoken word poet Asmae Amaddaou.
About the event
In the exhibition Yawm al-Firak, Sakir Khader reflects on farewells in times of occupation, conflict, war and displacement. During this evening, we reflect on a life lived.
The evening will begin with Khader sharing unseen film footage from his many journeys to Jenin. Especially edited for this night at Foam, the film offers an intimate glimpse into life as it unfolds—before becoming one of his photographs.
After experiencing the stories on film, we’ll come together in Foam’s garden for a shared community dinner by Culture Grub—a social initiative that celebrates Palestinian culinary heritage. Through workshops, dinners, and film nights, Culture Grub brings people together with stories and food.
As we enjoy our meal, performances by Palestinian-Dutch spoken word artist and rapper Stryder, alongside poet and spoken word artist Asmae Amaddaou, will accompany each course. Their powerful voices will offer moments of reflection—serving up food for thought alongside each dish.
About the exhibition
Yawm al-Firak, Arabic for Day of Separation, is the first solo museum exhibition by the Palestinian-Dutch photographer Sakir Khader. Since 2024, he has been the first Palestinian photographer selected to join the renowned photography collective Magnum Photos. His images explore the fragile boundary between life and death.
