Street photography

During the workshop Street photography you will be inspired by the city centre of Amsterdam. With an outlined assignment you will photograph the street views that inspire you the most.

About the workshop

Come experiment with details and perspectives to give you an impression of the street. Before shooting, you will learn what to look out for when taking a picture by looking at pictures of professional photographers. With this knowledge at hand everyone is going to practice taking their own street photos.

At the end, the results will be extensively reviewed and discussed in groups. By discussing your photography with your peers, you learn to look critically, recognize your own style and learn from others.

Learning goals

  • Learning to look consciously through photography

  • Practicing basics of street photography

  • Introduction to photographic concepts and aspects of an image

  • Convert your impression of the street into a photo

  • Reflect on your own work and that of others

Extension of lessons

Want to learn more about photography near or around your school? The Street Photography workshop can be extended as desired to a series of 3 or 4 classes. In this course, there is more time and space for everyone to experience the medium. Please feel free to contact the Education Department to discuss the possibilities. We can think along with you to create the most appropriate programme.
