&Foam launches new theme: Film
&Foam
Opening this Thursday, 8 November 2012, is Film &Foam:
a unique combination of photography and film. &Foam, Foam's
shop at Vijzelstraat 78, changes its theme and collection four
times a year. For this edition, &Foam presents Image
Feedback and the organic installation PLOT. Foam
Editions offers new prints of visual artist Gábor Ősz and Kriterion
film house will show an original 35mm-projector.
Image Feedback
Meeus van Dis (1978) and Anouk Dingelstad (1989) will be
exhibiting their installation Image Feedback. The project
exist of a slide deck of twenty double portraits. From stills Meeus
and Anouk create moving images. For each double portrait they
select film fragments within a chosen theme. Two characters from
different periods in (film)history are interacting. At Film
&Foam there will be a meeting between fictional
characters.
PLOT
During Film &Foam new work will be created on location.
Curators Karolien Buurman, Femke Dekker and Eline Mul invite
photographers and visual artists to create an on-site installation,
named PLOT. These installations bring two key elements of
film and photography together: spatial design and storytelling.
Featured artists include Barbara Thomsen, Marijke Appelman, Kim
Boske, Sarah Mei Herman and Artun Arasli. The artists use each two
weeks the space of &Foam as a set and workplace to direct their
own short film. Each film will be presented after those two weeks.
On Thursday, 3 January, the four films will be presented at the
same time during a festive finissage.
Display dates:
Thursday 22 November 2012 from 5.30pm
Thursday 6 December 2012 from 5.30pm
Thursday 20 December 2012 from 5.30pm -

Film Screening: Peter Watkins and the Cinematic
Paradox
Stefan Majakowski (Stichting Shadow) presents: Peter Watkins and
the Cinematic Paradox wherein he examines fragments of the
innovative works of Peter Watkins, concluding the evening with an
integral screening of the infamous The War Game (1965).
Thursday 3 January 2013 from 5.30pm
Foam Editions
Foam Editions, Foam's gallery, will be offering during Film
&Foam special prints of visual artist Gábor Ősz. In the work of
Gabor Ösz is almost always a complex relationship between image
shape and how the image was created. Using various techniques, he
works with installation, film and photography. The Production
Stills in this Foam-Edition are submitted by two new film works,
Ontology and Tautology. In both film projects the artist makes use
of analog and digital film loops. By using a film camera blank film
projections in a space to film, and this film images to recreate
and restart again filming, creates a kind of Droste effect, a
picture-in-a-picture repetition.
