Collecting Photography Course 2014

This spring Foam Editions organises an intensive Collecting Photography Course. In seven intensive gatherings first time and aspiring buyers will be accompanied through various basic elements of the process of acquiring photographic works. Leading national and international experts from the photography world share their knowledge of collecting photography by attending to topics as the history of photography, valuation, distinguishing photographic techniques, the process of acquiring (modern) photographic art works for a private collector, for a museum and for a corporate collection. The course also includes a photographer's studio visit and an excursion to a conservation atelier in Amsterdam.

Where: Meetings are held at Foam, Keizersgracht 609 and one other location in Amsterdam
Time: 6.30 pm - 9.00 pm (food and drinks will be provided)

Topics covered: introduction to the history of photography, photobooks, photographic techniques, issues to consider before buying, pricing, buying at auction, private-, corporate- and collecting for a museum.

Who should attend: New-to-the-field or seasoned collectors, those thinking about collecting photography or photography lovers. There is a limited amount of places (30), applications will be excepted in order of registration.
