MOAM Project - Blommers & Schumm
'We mainly focussed on the symmetry in the image by Anton
Corbijn. we used this symmetry as inspiration and as a returning
expression in the image.'
- Blommers & Schumm
Together with fashion designer Mattijs van
Bergen , Blommers & Schumm created Nastya,
2012, based on a photograph by renowned Dutch photographer,
Anton Corbijn. 'Christy Turlington, Dublin' was the
inspiration for her image, which is on
display at &Foam, Vijzelstraat 78, until 17 March
2013.
Blommers and Schumm are the photographer duo
Anuschka Blommers (Dutch, 1969) and Niels Schumm (Dutch,
1969). They graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam
in 1996. They have grown into some of Hollands' most wanted fashion
and portrait photographers. Their work has been published in Blvd,
Purple Magazine, Spin, I-D, Interview Magazine, Self Service, New
York Times, Fantastic Man and The Gentlewoman.
In 1998 they won the Best Young Fashion Photography Award at the
Festival International des Arts de la Mode in Hyères. Since then
the work of Blommers/Schumm has been exhibited in many different
places, amongst others at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam in
1998, at Torch Gallery in Amsterdam in 2000, at the
Deichtorhallen in Hamburg in 2002 and at the Groninger Museum in
2005. The Groninger Museum has also acquired many of the works
exhibited for their permanent collection.
