About the exhibition

Witnessing Life reflects on Rentmeester’s unique ability to transcend genres, leaving a profound impact on journalistic, commercial and artistic photography. From his compelling war photography of the Vietnam war and the Watts riots, his wildlife photography to his groundbreaking Malboro Man campaigns, that redefined the visual identity of America. This exhibition not only celebrates Rentmeester’s remarkable career but also marks his symbolic return to Amsterdam, the city where his journey as a photographer began.
